Private Sales Team

The Jeroboams Private Sales team deal specifically with the needs of Private Clients, providing advice for customers, whether it be for top end wines for drinking or cellaring, en primeur, Champagne and wine for weddings or christenings, or something simple for a barbecue or dinner party.

James Wormall - Head of Private Sales

James Wormall joined Jeroboams in 2000 as Manager of the shop in Chancery Lane, before moving on to manage the ‘flagship’ store in Elizabeth Street. In late 2001 James joined the Private Sales Department to focus on the needs of Private Clients and has recently been made head of the department. James specialises in Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhone, and has a passion for sourcing the ‘up and coming’ wines of Italy, Spain and the ‘New World’.

Matthew Edwards - Associate Director

Joining the Jeroboams Group after spending many years in the Global Reinsurance Market, Matthew has a particular passion for the classic winegrowing regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Central and Northern Italy. Having worked in our retail sector managing a number of our key stores between 2003 and 2007 Matthew then moved to our Private Client Team based at Elliott's Place. Close to the City Matthew is perfectly situated to deal with the needs of City based clients. He is always keen to explore new and exciting wines from around the world so please contact him if you have any specific requirements for particularly sought after and rare fine wines.

Tony Leonard - Director

Tony Leonard joined Layton’s wine merchants in the early 1970’s and in 1997, he was a member of the management buy-out team. He has been part of the private sales team for Layton’s, and latterly Jeroboams, for the last 20 years, during which time he has built up a valued private client following.

Tony is still very happy to “talk wine” to anybody who’s prepared to listen – and more than happy to take orders! He has undiminished enthusiasm for the classic regions of France, especially the Cote d’Or, but is not averse to quality from anywhere in the world!

James Radcliffe - Chairman

James Radcliffe joined the Wine trade in 1963 as a Trainee, sponsored by Christopher & Co. in Jermyn Street, London. This led to a gap year working for wine growers in the major regions of northern Europe. James subsequently joined Harveys of Bristol, (then part owners of Chateau Latour) working under the stewardship of Harry Waugh and Michael Broadbent. Leaving Harveys as West End Sales Manager in 1969 with five years as Sales Manager at Colemans of Norwich, he joined Laytons in the Spring of 1974. James became Chairman after a Management buy-out in 1997 and was instrumental in the successful marriage with Jeroboams. As well as his role of Joint Chairman of the Group, James continues to play a key role in advising Clients many of which he has known for over 30 years.
