2013 Boekenhoutskloof Semillon Franschhoek Valley (6 x Bottle)

South Africa Franschhoek

Yellow peaches and cream, an appley freshness, almonds and a pithy minerality. Waxy secondary flavours already adds to the complexity of this captivating wine. A strikingly tighter acidity compared to the past few vintages. White peach and an enticing viscosity fills a delicate frame with its typical salty mineral lift.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2013 Semillon, which has a larger percentage of concrete eggs in place of new oak and undergoes a slightly shorter maturation, has a well defined bouquet with pressed white flowers, acacia honey and grilled almond. The palate is medium-bodied and feels rounded in the mouth; hints of toffee and marzipan come through, quite forward compared to the nose, with a soft landing on the finish. I’d just like a little more reserve and tension on the finish, which is why I’ve been a little parsimonious with my mark.
