2013 Cubardi Primitivo, IGT Salento, Schola Sarmenti (6 x Bottle)

Italy Puglia

The nose is rich and warm, with raisin and prune notes and fresher red berry fruits. Very sweet fruited on the palate, this is a big, rich and warming wine, with gentle ripe tannins and enough acidity to balance it.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Compared to the Nerìo red blend, the 2013 Primitivo Cubardi offers more balance and focus. The mouthfeel is just a touch thinner, but this goes a long way to shaping a lasting sense of elegance and grace. Grapes are harvested from 65-year-old alberello, or bush-trained vines, and only one kilo of fruit is produced per plant. Those low yields also contribute greatly to the wine’s balanced performance.
