2015 Chablis, 1er Cru, Mont de Milieu, Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin (6 x Bottle)

France Burgundy Chablis

Pale yellow. Tangy, fruit-driven aromas of lemon, pear and white peach. At once dense and juicy; a bomb of white fruits in the mouth but not at all heavy owing to its nicely integrated acidity. Finishes quite firm but not bitter, with lovely persistence. An excellent showing.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu was straightforward, a little simplistic on the nose and not a million miles away from the Vaillons in style. The palate is lightly honeyed on the entry with touches of walnut and a pinch of white pepper, although I would have liked more nervosité and tension to be conveyed on the finish. Hopefully this will evolve more tension. As I mentioned in my introduction, there is no 2016 Mont de Milieu because of hail damage.

Vinous

Bright yellow-green. Mint, lime and a whiff of chlorophyll on the nose. Sweet but a bit clenched, even youthfully aggressive, in the middle, with the lemon, mint and menthol flavors complicated by a positive vegetal quality. Finishes quite dry, with a note of anise.
