Fully expressing the vintage, and the site, this Bannockburn Pinot Noir exudes notes of ripe black cherries, dried herbs and savoury notes of forest floor. An evocative wine that is rich, textured and structured yet elegant and refined. A f ine wine to age but also drinking beautifully now.

Delicious nose of crushed cherry, vanilla and clove. Bursting with dark red fruit and spice. Lively and refreshing.
GOLD
The 2022 Pinot Noir is round and succulent, with an abundance of mouthcoating tannins that form a veil of texture for the cheeks. There's no doubting its concentration nor richness of flavor, and its sheer mass is impressive. The wine comes together on the finish, tightening up thanks to a combination of whole bunch-derived tannins and mouthwatering acidity, creating a sense of tension as if it's sucking in its tummy. Herbs, smoky notes and tea leaves linger on the savory, lo ng finish.

The open-knit 2022 Pinot Noir is sweetly fruited but has a distinctly herbal lift thanks to a portion of whole bunches. Savory and spiced oak notes create additional aromatic interest. This is approachable and supple, with sturdy tannins th at coat and grip the mouth before mellowing on the spiced finish. The 2022 is already open and drinking well.

Mid to light crimson. Openly aromatic. Spicy dark-red fruit without being obviously oaky. A little more oaky on the palate but it brings a smooth texture and no unwanted sweetness. Savoury Pinot with refined tannins and some grip on the fin ish. Real presence here. (JH)

Central Otago
Central Otago is the world’s most southerly vineyard, it is the only New Zealand region with a continental climate. The first vines were only planted in the 1980’s and the region is dominated by pinot noir (with 79% of the planted hectarage). Other varieties planted are Pinot Gris (10%), Riesling (4%), Chardonnay (3%) and Sauvignon Blanc (2%) and a small amount of Gewurztraminer. Vineyards are planted on valley slopes to catch maximum sunshine and reduce spring frost risk. There are 6 sub-zones in Otago, the original being Bannockburn, which is one of the warmest and arguably the best. Nearby are Alexandra and Cromwell, both of which show great potential and Bendigo, the warmest region and the one undergoing the heaviest planting. Gibbston and Wanaka are the final two, cooler and later ripening and making wines with perhaps greater elegance. Central Otago pinot is intensely fruity and decidedly voluptuous, often with creamy tannins. It has rapidly established itself as a premium region in the eyes of international consumers, however with so many young vines and new vineyards, the real potential here is yet to be achieved.
