Packed full of flavour, the Nikka from the Barrel is one of our absolute favourites whiskies. The blend comprised both grain and single malt whiskies from Nikka's Miyagiko and Yoichi distilleries, which are aged in a huge array of casks, in cluding bourbon barrels, sherry butts and refill hogheads. The whisky is medium bodied, supple and elegant, with up-front caramelised fruit, orange zest, cut flowers and spice. There is a lovely undercurrent of cocoa, toffee and a little ca ramel, finishing with a tingle of oak spice. Whether you drink on its own, with water or over ice, this is one whisky that offers unbelievable quality for the money.
